Art Museum

Philadelphia’s Museum of Art is not the only famous attraction in this neighborhood! Other museums in this section of town are the Barnes Foundation, Eastern State Penitentiary, and the Rodin Museum. Don’t forget to visit the famous Rocky Steps and Statue (also at the Philadelphia Museum of Art). Hop on W Girard Ave and be at the Philadelphia Zoo within a 10 minute drive. If you want to stick on the East side of the river, you can also bike, walk, or run on the Schuylkill River Trail, approximately 140 miles of paved trail running from Philadelphia all the way up to Frackville in Schuylkill County. Catch one of the regattas from local universities at Boat House Row or view the gorgeous night lights across the river on the recently shut-down Benjamin Franklin Parkway. You can catch many events featured on this side of town, especially as the weather gets nicer.

This neighborhood borders Fairmount and Spring Garden, and locals consider these areas as one spot. It is also in close proximity to University City (15 min. drive). It’s very easy to get to Manayunk and into Center City as well via public transit or biking. The Art Museum neighborhood falls within the Martin Bache elementary school, and also contains the historic Girard College. The types of homes here are primarily single family homes, many being Victorian homes. There are also high rise condominium buildings and boutique buildings. The Art Museum neighborhood is family-oriented and has a wide range of price ranges for housing as well.
