Brewerytown in northern Philly is one of the city’s neighborhoods that has maintained what made it historically significant and was even added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. Fun fact: Philly is where Americans were first introduced to what is now the most popular style of beer, the lager. Previously being the home of approximately 20 breweries, many of those establishments were transformed into condo buildings while also preserving the traditional look and feel. Brewerytown sits east of Fairmount Park, just above the Fairmount Neighborhood up to Cecil B. Moore Ave. This neighborhood is also close to the Art Museum area and Schuylkill River. At the center of the neighborhood is Girard Ave where businesses have gained much success due to recent new construction occupying the area’s many large vacant lots.
