And don’t forget to contact Rabbit Recycling to help you get rid of unwanted items like light bulbs, clothing, plastic, and so much more!
- Clear out under the bed. Don’t forget to give the area and the items you were storing beneath it a good cleaning as dust accumulates heavily in that area.
- Did you ever think to wipe down your door knobs, handles, and locks? Now’s the time!
- Clean out your refrigerator of expired items and wipe down the shelves and drawers as well. Make sure the baking soda stored inside to keep items fresh hasn’t expired either.
- When was the last time you went to your attic or basement for any other reason aside from putting more stuff down there? Not only should you rearrange the items, also go through any boxes and bags for content you can get rid of.
- Wipe down the front of your kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Know the material your cabinets are made of in order to get the right cleaning solution.
- Check the expiration date on your fire extinguisher and get a new one if necessary.
- Go through clothes, coats, shoes, etc. A tried-and-true tip is to go only through your winter clothes and pick out anything you didn’t wear last season. This ensures you don’t preemptively toss any items you may want to wear during the summer. Here is a list of donation locations.
- Sweep the leaves off your porch or patio and give it a good power wash before the warm season starts. You may also want to clean any outdoor furniture and dig any additional décor or seat cushions out from storage.
- Shampoo all the carpets and rugs throughout your home. You can invest in a carpet cleaner or hire a professional– reach out to us for a referral!
- Your ceiling, fans, and light fixtures are most likely covered in those hard-to-see cobwebs. An extending duster can help solve that problem.
- If you go high, you also have to go low. Beneath your television stand, ottoman, or book shelves is likely a hoard of dust bunnies.
- Get your HVAC system serviced by a professional. HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning and is responsible for heating and cooling your home through furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, thermostats, etc. HVAC systems should be maintained by a professional at least every 6 months before the two major seasonal changes. You certainly don’t want to be stuck with a faulty system during the first summer heat wave! Reach out to us for an HVAC professional.
- Change the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. You should be doing this each Daylight Savings.
